Why Can’t I Bring Myself To Try Taco Bell Breakfast?

I grew up eating Taco Bell. I can remember the excitement of finding out that it was going to be a family Taco Bell night, as we loaded up the car and headed to our local franchise. It was simpler times with a simpler menu, but a classic bean burrito or soft taco could make my whole week.

As a full grown adult having some knowledge of eating healthy and what I should consume (and what I should not), I still eat Taco Bell. Sometimes it is an ungodly amount of Taco Bell – full of all the goodness that is Crunchwrap Supremes, Cheesy Gordita Crunches and Doritos Locos Tacos.

Taco Bell is always innovating their menu, and finally innovated into adding breakfast for the masses after not opening until 11 a.m. for years.

Thrillist went through the effort to rank 52 Taco Bell items, and even landed the Breakfast Crunchwrap in their Top 10 at number seven overall. (Four breakfast items actually landed in the Top 25)

In general, the reviews about Taco Bell’s breakfast have been positive – so as a Taco Bell enthusiast, why can’t I bring myself to try Taco Bell breakfast? The fast food joint has been serving breakfast now for almost five years (started in March of 2014) and yet I have not even sampled an offering from the menu. Not one single breakfast item.

Perhaps it is the thought of starting my day in the Taco Bell drive-thru. Maybe it is the strange combination of eggs and syrup. Perhaps if they offered the breakfast menu all day I would be more likely to give it a shot.

Ultimately, I am not sure what it is that has let me to not walk through a Taco Bell door for breakfast. Maybe if enough people tell me its worth it, I will finally cave.

Seems unlikely at this point.
